THE BFO HORRAH TOUR COLLECTION

The BFO Horrah Tour Collection was created in honour of the BFO HORRAH TOUR of 2019 in New Orleans 2019.

Grab yourself a beverage, preferably a Tanqueray & Tonic, 2 limes, and get comfy as I attempt to share with you the story behind this project.

The BFO or Big Fatty Online is one of the world’s longest running LGBTQ Podcast; published 5 days a week at exactly 20 minutes a day and is a legacy member of the PRIDE48 LGTBQ Podcasting Network.

Set to retire at episode #3000, the host, affectionately nick-named Big Fatty (formerly of fellew LGBTQ pioneering podcast, The Little Fatty Cast), set out a challenge for his listeners back during the Pride48 LIVE event over Pride Weekend, 21 to 23 June 2019.

The challenge was to raise at least $3001 before 31 July 2019 for PRIDE48 and he would continue the show is some form after hitting episode 3000. Of course, he plans on taking a couple days off, after all, he has only ever missed a handful of shows ever.

The response from the audience was astounding. Not even 48 hours later and $3000+ was raised!

Big Fatty is that first to admit that he does not understand why people listen to his nonsense. As vulgar and inappropriate as the BFO can get; you can’t help but fall in love. You will never meet a kinder, warmer more welcoming soul in your life. Subscribe today using your favourite Podcast App; just make sure you include the ONLINE part!

What is HORRAH?

Well, simply put, “Horrah” (or Horror without this charming southern accent) it is the subculture of the Leather Community. This is definitely an affectionate name, taking a playful approach to most people’s reaction to their preconceived ideas of what goes on in a Gay Men’s Leather & Denim bar. Not every one has the same experiences, but if your experience the “Horrah” with Big Fatty, who is neither big nor fat, you are sure to have a grand time. Just watch out; the drinks tend to be EXTRA strong when Big Fatty is around.

Why the Ryan White Foundation?

The subculture of leather & denim in the gay community is easy recognized across many cultures. Much like drag is recognized. Some even follow a philosophy that leather and denim is essentially drag, just with a different definition of glamorous. The 2 subcultures intertwine and are often the most visible.

In many larger centres, “fraternities known as Leather Clubs emerged and became cornerstones in the LGBTQ Community for support, activism and charity work. Many Leather Clubs raise HUGE amounts of money. However, as we experiences changes in the community and leather seems to lose interest in a younger generation; many Leather clubs have disappeared and community support and activism is left scrambling.

The Ryan White Foundation was the charity of choice for the Leather Club that Big Fatty was a member of and I felt it would be a great honour to be able to raise some money on behalf of Big Fatty for a foundation that is so vital to the LGBTQ Community, yesterday, today and tomorrow.

So even though these t-shirts have been created for BFO Horrah Tour of 2019, they are open for anyone to purchase and be part of a great fundraising opportunity and to honour a great man who has done so much to make the lives of everyone he encounters, so much better!
